Jealous man kills lover

Durban - A jealous KwaZulu-Natal man snapped and killed the mother of his child on Tuesday after suspecting she was in love with another man, police said on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Captain Khephu Ndlovu said Nonkululeko Mthembu, 28, of N Section, Umlazi was shot twice - in the stomach and back - at her home and died on arrival at hospital.
"Her 32-year-old boyfriend and father of her six-year-old son was very angry. He suspected she was in love with a man from Isipingo," said Ndlovu.
After shooting Mthembu, the man turned the gun on himself.
He sustained a gunshot wound to the neck but survived.
"He is reported to be in a serious condition at Prince Mshiyeni and is under police guard. Once he recovers, he will be charged for murder," said Ndlovu.
Police recovered a 9mm pistol at the scene as well as five live rounds of ammunition.
The child was uninjured and is receiving trauma counselling.
