Jeneker convicted on 17 charges

Cape Town - High-profile People Against Gangsterism and Drugs (Pagad) member Ebrahim Jeneker was found guilty on 17 charges including three of murder on Tuesday, Cape Talk radio reported.
Jeneker's co-accused Abdullah Maansdorp was found guilty on 18 charges while his brother Ismail was acquitted on all charges.
The radio said all three men initially faced 138 charges each.
The charges Jeneker and Maansdorp were convicted of related to three incidents - the hijacking of a delivery van in March 1999, a hold-up at a radio and TV shop in Athlone in April 1999 and an attack on a Grassy Park hair salon, also in April 1999, in which three people were shot dead.
Both men were also convicted on several charges of robbery, the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and attempted murder.
