Cape Town - After a thoroughly controversial pregnancy, jailed Pagad member Ebrahim Jeneker's wife has given birth to a baby girl.
The Cape Argus reported on Friday that the child, named Fatima, was born after her mother Saudika went into labour at the weekend.
Although Saudika has confirmed that Jeneker is the father, he was in jail at the time.
Conjugal visits are not allowed in prison, but correctional services said last month that a probe into how she became pregnant had yielded no evidence of wrongdoing by officials.
Jeneker is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and the illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
He escaped from the Cape High Court holding cells in October last year but was recaptured on the same day. He escaped again on September 19 this year and was again recaptured.
Saudika told the newspaper that she took the infant to Malmesbury prison on Wednesday to see Jeneker.
"But of course there was no contact. He saw her, but he could not hold her," she said.
