Johannesburg - A 17-year-old school boy was arrested on Tuesday in Eldorado Park for attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm, police said.
Captain Philemon Khorombi said the boy was arrested after he fired shots at other pupils at Extension 3 Park on Monday, while they were playing after school.
The school principal informed the police about the incident on Tuesday, after the pupils complained to him that the boy was intimidating them, and threatening to shoot them.
Police went to the school and the boy took them to his home where the gun was found in a safe.
He told the police that the gun belonged to his father and he was able to open the safe because he knew the unlock code.
"No one was injured during the shooting, he missed them all. What could have happened if he was on target?"
The father was arrested for negligence in storing a firearm, Khorombi said.
