Jhb drag racer dies in Durban

Durban - A 30-year-old Johannesburg drag racer died in an accident while participating in a Durban drag racing event, the Mercury newspaper reported on Monday.
Gert Vorster had been competing in his Mitsubishi Lancer at Greyville's First Avenue on Sunday when he slammed into a tree, driving at about 200km/h.
Vorster had clocked the fastest time of the day at 10.9 seconds, when he crashed.
Accimed Ambulance Service spokesperson Viky Januk said the impact of the crash caused the tree to uproot.
Vorster, he said, sustained severe injuries and fractures and died instantly.
