Johannesburg - Traffic along a number of streets in Johannesburg's CBD was being diverted on Friday, due to a Public Servants Association (PSA) march, a spokesperson said. Johannesburg metro police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, said the march started in Bree Street at midday.
"About 100 people from the PSA are marching but we aren't closing any of the streets," he said.
The march would proceed along Eloff, Market, Joubert, Fox, Sauer, Commissioner, Ntemi Piliso and Jeppe streets.
It could be expected to be finished by 14:00, he said.
More than 200 000 members of the PSA, nationwide, went on strike on Thursday after they rejected government's 6.5% salary increase.
Public servants were demanding an 8.6% salary increase and a housing subsidy of R1 000 effective from April 1.
Government was offering a 6.5% salary increase and R620 housing subsidy with effect from July 1.
