Joburg BRT buses blockaded

2009-12-07 07:43
Johannesburg - All Bus Rapid Transit buses in Johannesburg will be running late on Monday, an official said.

"Reavaya buses are running 45 minutes late because of a route blockade in Nancefield [near the bus depot]," said BRT spokesperson Conel Mackay.

Buses could not leave the depot as their route out of the depot was barricaded with rubble and burning tyres.

Police were on the scene clearing out the road.

Mackay said the bus company would double the number of buses to make up for the delay.

"We'd like to apologise to our customers for the delay and the inconvenience, but the situation should be back to normal."
