Joburg evaluation deadline extended

2012-06-22 14:18

Johannesburg - The deadline for Johannesburg residents to query the evaluation of their properties has been extended, the City of Johannesburg said in a statement on Friday.

Spokesperson Gabu Tugwana said the cut-off date had been moved from 29 June to 29 July.

He said the city received appeals from residents who complained that they did not receive their letters timeously on the new Supplementary Valuation Roll because of the recent Post Office strike.

They also contended that the web page for submissions on the City's website was not user-friendly.

He said residents would be given an opportunity to do walk-ins at regional offices from 2 July.

"Valuations personnel will be able to assist customers who wish to inspect the roll and lodge objections at all the walk-in-centres at the City's regional offices in two weeks."

Tugwana said those wishing to lodge queries could use the e-mail address valuationenquiries@joburg.org.za - or could call 086 0562874.

"They can also come direct at our valuation services Metropolitan Centre in Braamfontein A-Block, 4th floor."

Objection done. Our property suddenly increased by over 400 thousand rand, Seems cANCer will do anything to make more money for themselves.

You are then quite lucky. We went up by 220 percent, and every one I have spoken to are in the same boat. The valuation was over double what it was the month before. They are collecting money to go to the olympics with all the cadre and family and children. Pure Greed. Nothing to do with using the money to improve JHB.
