Joburg taxi drivers to protest against tolls

Johannesburg - Residents of the city have been warned to prepare for a protest against e-tolls by minibus taxi drivers next week.

Major taxi routes in and around Johannesburg are expected to be affected on Monday and thousands of commuters will be left stranded, The Times reported.

The National Taxi Alliance said it was protesting the government's failure to issue operating licences to taxi drivers, rendering them prey to e-tolls.

The operating licences would make taxi drivers exempt from paying e-tolls.
