Johannesburg - A Johannesburg woman has been robbed by a woman pretending to be blind and two accomplices, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.

The accomplices approached the 25-year-old woman and asked her to help their blind friend cross a road in the Johannesburg CBD on Monday, said Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele.

One of them warned her that the other two were about to rob her and that she should check her belongings.

"She opened her wallet and a third suspect grabbed it and ran away. The alleged blind woman and the other male pulled out her wedding ring from her finger and also ran away in different directions," said Mbele.

He said the three were arrested while drinking at tavern later on Monday, and would appear soon in court.
