Johan Kotzé arrested

2012-01-11 12:28

Johannesburg - Police have arrested Johan Kotzé, who is accused of orchestrating a gruesome assault on his estranged wife and of killing his teenage stepson, Limpopo police said on Wednesday.

"The elusive Johan Kotzé, who evaded police capture has finally been arrested," said Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.

"He was arrested this morning in Modimolle at about 11:45. He has been on the run since last week... The suspect will appear before the Modimolle Magistrate's Court soon."

Kotzé, 50, had been on the run since the assault and murder in Modimolle a week ago.

A 42-year-old man who was allegedly forced to participate in the attack was arrested in Makapanstad near Hammanskraal north of Pretoria earlier on Wednesday.

On Tuesday night, police recovered Kotzé 's Toyota Fortuner in Modimolle and Mulaudzi warned that his arrest was imminent.

      George - 2012-01-11 13:30

@ Margie, Please dont count on that too soon. Cops have been known to stuff things up along the way. ie release the wrong person and take bribes

      Kacee - 2012-01-11 13:45

Well Johan Kotzé, lets hope bubba in prison shows you the same respect you did your wife.

      Janice - 2012-01-11 13:46

Best news Ive heard all week!!!

      Sandra - 2012-01-11 13:46

In jail he will become some gangster's "wife"; and then he will know how it feels to be raped.

      karen.glautier - 2012-01-11 13:53

Two things occur to me: 1. What about all the headlines and reports that he is definitely no longer in Limpopo?? (Modimolle is where it happened) 2. He DID tell the police not to look for him - wonder if he was trying to tell them he would be at home?? Anyway I am glad he has been arrested, my thoughts with his mutilated wife.

      CarlS - 2012-01-11 13:55

      +1 to the SAPS.

      Schmee - 2012-01-11 14:00

I'm totally against the death penalty but Citizen has a point. This one could make me change my mind.

      planetdonovan - 2012-01-11 14:03

i guess you're not "totally against the death penalty" then...

      Bryan - 2012-01-11 14:24

I hope he likes prison food.......and penis!

      Leon - 2012-01-13 11:08

Strange how a white man; no matter how dispicable has made headline news so fast; while white children keep dissapearing in muti killings and we never hear about the savagery of the black man. Might be because it's "just a cultural pastime.) If a white man is the culprit it's international news; if it's a black; (justice for being suppressed?) Hang Johan; but hang everyone we don't even get to know about who are just as savage; but by nature.

  • chris.debeer1 - 2012-01-11 12:30

He did not run far! Are you sure he new he was on the run?

      Johncarlos Cynical Biza - 2012-01-11 12:34

You are technically on the run even if you hide in your own house

      Leendert - 2012-01-11 12:34

Lol. What do they say, the best escape is to stay close to the scene?!

      Thopa - 2012-01-11 13:16

So did this guy expect cops to start looking for him in CPT whn he committed the murder in Limpopo? What a clown!

      George - 2012-01-11 13:31

      Is it the right person

      Mike - 2012-01-11 13:40

@Chris: Of cause he knew he was on the run, so did SAPS! Why do you think they asked Interpol to help arresting him a few blocks away????

  • Ben - 2012-01-11 12:31

    Thanks goodness, at last.

He will never see the outside again.

      Craig - 2012-01-11 13:26

@Flowingriver: You are a f-nut of note. No women (of any colour) get turned on by being gang raped and having their son killed. Why dont you do us all a favour and stop commenting

      george.viljoen - 2012-01-11 13:36

Why must God have mercy on his soul ? He had no mercy for his victims !

      nasheenar - 2012-01-11 13:46

Gerta ..really just for a fleeting moment picture yourself in the victims sitution. If the betrayal of the man you married doesnt get to you the fear, humiliation and the sinister act of another human being should. Why should there be mercy on his soul?

  • julie.khan3 - 2012-01-11 12:34

Strip him naked ,hang him in a "public Square" allow him to be gang raped.Give his wife a gun to kill him. an eye for an eye. My heart grieves for her son!!Well done cops!!
