Johannes Kana, who has been found guilty of 17-year-old Anene Booysen's rape and murder is set to be sentenced on what would have been Booysen's 18th birthday in the Swellendam Circuit Court.

Cape Town - Johannes Kana, who was found guilty of the rape and murder of Bredasdorp teenager Anene Booysen, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

eNCA reported on Friday morning that the Swellendam Circuit Court sentenced Kana to two life sentences, one for each crime.

He was found guilty of rape and murder in the same court on Tuesday. The State requested two life terms, to run concurrently.

According to Sapa, Kana was seen with Booysen outside a Bredasdorp pub in the early hours of Saturday 2 February 2013. Booysen was later found raped and disembowelled. She died later that day in a Cape Town hospital.
