Cape Town - Joost van der Westhuizen was discharged from the Sunninghill hospital in Johannesburg on Wednesday morning, but apparently he's still very ill and weak.
On Wednesday the hospital released a statement after the ex-Bok had been discharged.
"Mr Van der Westhuizen was admitted in an unconscious state in the early hours of Sunday morning. Before his admission he'd been complaining about chest pains, but according to the doctors who treated him, he did not have a heart attack.
“Therefore, none of the tests and scans have shown what could have led to his collapse," reads the statement. A stroke, however, is definitely not excluded in this statement.
He wants to rest
Earlier there had been rumours that he'd possibly had either a heart attack, a stroke, or both, but later it was said that he'd had neither.
Brain tests were done on Tuesday afternoon, before he was allowed to go home on Wednesday morning.
Mike Bolhuis, the private investigator Van der Westhuizen hired to investigate the infamous Joost sex tape incident, spoke to Van der Westhuizen personally after his discharge on Wednesday.
"Joost's first reaction was that he was overjoyed to see his kids again. However, he is still seriously ill and completely exhausted. You can hear it in his voice.
"He says he's now only going to rest as much as he can, and spend as much time as possible with Amor (Vittone, his wife, a singer) and his children."
The hospital did not say when the test results will be available.
