Cape Town - A freelance journalist has fallen to his death from the Naspers Centre in central Cape Town, according to Media24.

The man fell to his death in the early hours of Sunday morning. No foul play is suspected.

"The matter is being investigated by the police," Media24 said in a statement.

Die Burger on Monday named him as Alan Bowen. He was a sub-editor at WP Newspapers and worked on the sixth floor along with Die Burger's editorial staff.

CCTV footage showed him getting up from his desk and taking the lift to the 26th floor. His body was later found in the parking area below.

Bowen was described by colleagues as quiet and hardworking.

The Naspers Centre was built in 1962 and at the time was the tallest building in Cape Town.
