Jub Jub back in court for trial

2011-03-18 10:04
Johannesburg - Musician Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye and his co-accused Themba Tshabalala were expected back in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Friday for the continuation of their murder trial.

Eyewitness Maki Ndlovu was expected to take the stand on Friday.

On Thursday, the court heard that the accused were racing their Mini Coopers in Soweto last year when they struck a group of schoolchildren.

The trial was delayed on Thursday over water cuts at the court, meaning that people could not use access water or use toilet facilities on the premises.

The pair face 10 charges relating to the four murders and driving under the influence of drugs.

Andile Mtombeni, 19, Phomelelo Masemelo, 16, Mlungisi Cwayi, and Prince Mahube, both aged 17, died in the incident. Fumani Mushanana and Frank Mlabo suffered serious injuries, including brain damage.
