2011-03-18 10:04

Johannesburg - Musician Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye and his co-accused Themba Tshabalala were expected back in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Friday for the continuation of their murder trial.

Eyewitness Maki Ndlovu was expected to take the stand on Friday.

On Thursday, the court heard that the accused were racing their Mini Coopers in Soweto last year when they struck a group of schoolchildren.

The trial was delayed on Thursday over water cuts at the court, meaning that people could not use access water or use toilet facilities on the premises.

The pair face 10 charges relating to the four murders and driving under the influence of drugs.

Andile Mtombeni, 19, Phomelelo Masemelo, 16, Mlungisi Cwayi, and Prince Mahube, both aged 17, died in the incident. Fumani Mushanana and Frank Mlabo suffered serious injuries, including brain damage.

  • Way-eye-i - 2011-03-18 10:21

JUDGE NOT GUYS,LEST YE BE JUDGED....but yeah they are guilty for murder, thats obvious enough!!!!

      Greg - 2011-03-18 10:29

We're all judged, everyday, for our actions. In return, we all judge others for theirs. Not judging is an impossibility. And yes, they are guilty, unless it really wasn't them there, not their Mini-Cooper's..... can't be sure - this is SA. Anything is possible (except to not judge lol)

  • sceptic - 2011-03-18 10:31

  • PAR - 2011-03-18 10:41

Stop wasting everyones time and money. Send them to jail without any chance of release. Their arrogance and stupidity resulted in murder.

When is this gona end? Let this fuck be locked finish and klaar...Mxh

  • Chris - 2011-03-18 10:50

Juju is a role model for thousands of youngsters. For him to go to jail will not really change anything for anyone nor make the pain for the families that lost loved ones any “easier”. I think he needs to be spared from going to jail – this will not help in any matter whatsoever. Give him 5 years of community services where he needs to go out to all schools across the country and speak to our youth about the danger of using drugs as well as the danger of driving under the influence.

      Gazza11 - 2011-03-18 10:57

Chris you need your head read. Are you a JubJub fan? He is a murderer finish and klaar.

      Straight Forward - 2011-03-18 10:57

And after the 5 years, put a bullet in his head

      Way-eye-i - 2011-03-18 11:02

like he was gonna budge.he pleaded not guilty.and him going to jail wil be JUSTICE!!! what? don't u believe in that ????

      kaz - 2011-03-18 11:04

You are an idiot!!! He MURDERED innocent children. He probably doesn't think that drug using is bad anyway so how the hell would it help for him to address people. If he does not go to jail, it means that the law, government, whoever makes the decisions, is saying: "It is fine to kill people, take drugs, race in a public area." Wonder how you would feel if this had happened to one of your family members being killed or brain damaged by this ASS.

      damascus - 2011-03-18 11:05

i sincerely hope that you don't believe the BS you wrote. - 2011-03-18 11:23

oh really Chris? What if it was your child that was killed (murdered)? Would you want him to walk the streets still????

      Chris - 2011-03-18 11:47

@Way-eye-I – he’s being trailed for murder. This is not murder and reason for him pleading “not guilty” . This is a tragic accident caused by a stupid decision. Don’t let your anger influence your thinking. Yes I Do believe in justice – but will it really be justice for this man to go to jail, when he could be in fact assist in preventing this to happen again, maybe just once! Or have one person think twice before doing the same. I’m not saying he must be a free man – but don’t throw him in jail to fade away. @kaz – it’s not murder. Drugs changed his life forever – I’m sure he’s looking and thinking of drugs in a totally different way. And that is the message he can tell to millions of people out there, doing it now, making a change. He could just be the reason a family or friend is spared because it was decided to make an example of him. Do you have any idea how many millions of people are using class A drugs in SA, driving around – open your eyes buddy – life is a bit bigger than your daily routine. Good luck on the long weekend, one extra day for partying! Whoo hoo!
