Jub Jub judgment under way

2012-10-10 10:52

Johannesburg - The Protea Magistrate's Court began delivering its verdict in the murder trial of Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye and Themba Tshabalala on Wednesday.

The courtroom started filling up as proceedings got underway.

Maarohanye and Tshabalala entered the dock both wearing black suits.

The two were allegedly drag-racing in Protea North in March 2010 when they crashed into a group of schoolchildren. Four boys were killed and two were seriously injured.

They are charged with murder, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and failing to assess the injuries of the victims. Both accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Magistrate Brian Nemavhidi began reading his judgment and recalled what the court had heard during the trial.

Friends and family of the school children and of Tshabalala and Maarohanye were present.
Police officers were at the entrance of the packed public gallery to ensure order and silence.

these celebrities either get away with murder (pun intented) or they just spend a few months in jail and cook up a terminal disease, i want to b a celebrity

      ngobel.sinxama - 2012-10-10 11:20

I hate talking about racial inequality because I'm white and benefit from profound racial inequality and white privilege. I love white privilege, it obliges black people to speak to me in english because of course, I don't speak black languages. I think we as white people should push the colourblind card so that racism is less talked about and nothing can be done about racial inequality

      letsallbefriendsdammit - 2012-10-10 11:23

wow ngobel.sinxama your chip is so big I doubt you have shoulders left bud. Shame man, life must be tough being that angry

      sanchez.sancho.7 - 2012-10-10 11:24

      peter.ndamase - 2012-10-10 11:24

This time around a strong message will be sent! They are going to jail!

      christopher.shining - 2012-10-10 11:29

@Ngobel..I see what you mean...you don't understand a f**ken word of English...go back to school. You have to learn english if you want to get anywhere in life, its just one of those things, I don't see other black people complaining. It will broaden your mind as well, whatever is left of it...

      ngobel.sinxama - 2012-10-10 11:35

"No one ever gave me anything" NONSENSE 400 Years of white supremacy set your life up and screwed up the lives of billions of people of colour all over the world. What happens in one generation effects the next and the next and the next... generation! You don't seem to get that. If my father was held down, I will be at a major disadvantage. If my forefathers had help from the formal system of white supremacy, I will be at a major advantage. All white people have benefited from an unjust system.

      christopher.shining - 2012-10-10 11:43

@ngobel...please shut up...the fittest survive...thats life, unfortunately for you, your fore fathers were a lot less brighter and stronger than my forefathers...its like the animal kingdom...the fittest and strongest survive...maybe you should grow some balls and then you might stop complaining...have you any friends?? if so they must have earplugs when they see you.

      deon.louw.7505 - 2012-10-10 11:49

No they will "fry", it probably did not help him at all that he was visited in jail by Juju.

      coenraad.vanderwesthuizen.3 - 2012-10-10 11:54

@ngobel - stop smoking your socks and go back to school.

      ngobel.sinxama - 2012-10-10 11:59

White privilege must be eradicated from society.

      christopher.shining - 2012-10-10 12:20

We own you ngobel...we own you...and forever will, look at the world, where are you in it? The bottom still...I want i want i want, keep blaming 400 years of white supremacy, because its going to continue till this planet is no longer. With your attitude you and your sons/daughters will still be shining my sons/daughters shoes. I am not complaining though!

      arthurenlouise.tarr - 2012-10-10 12:32

I would Love to give this Jub JUB A P*@S Klap so his goggle's go flying. Idiot!!

      nicholas.graan - 2012-10-10 12:35

Thank God this mind numbing trial can finally come to an end now. Lets just hope there is no appeal otherwise we'll be listening to it over over again for another 20 years.

      harley.quin.334 - 2012-10-10 12:51

@ngobel.sinxama, maybe you ought to look at things from a different perspective: if a minority of 10% of the population manages to keep the majoity in subjugation for 400 years without ever realy being under threat, that should tell you something about the inability of said majority to get their act together. just saying

      ngobel.sinxama - 2012-10-10 13:38

Let me get this straight. So rape is ok if you do it on a mass scale like raping entire continents and killing an entire race of people (American Indians) and enslaving people and oppressing people for 400 years? If I do it, will I be termed a genius with a higher IQ and people will blame the victims? But if I rape one person or kill one person I'm a stupid, barbaric and inhumane person who deserves the death penalty?

      christopher.shining - 2012-10-10 13:44

Correct you deserve the death penalty...now get over yourself and your sad past...and your sad future if you keeping thinking in the past.

      harley.quin.334 - 2012-10-10 13:48

@ngobel, don't worry mate nobody will ever mistake you for a genius

  • jackal666.daniel - 2012-10-10 10:57

This took long enough, wonder what he'll get for this.

      gift.mushi.9 - 2012-10-10 12:54

Poor Boy. He is going down because of a moment of stupidity. Is liking having unprotected sex for 1 second and the next day you are told you have been infected with Ghonoria and HIV AIDS. Luck the case took long for him to continue enjoying sex and good food.

      harley.quin.334 - 2012-10-10 13:23

gift, if my sex life did not last more than a second i might be tempted to give it up all together :)

  • nkosinathi.dyantyi.9 - 2012-10-10 11:04

    Its totally unfair

      charlesdumbwin.dumbwin - 2012-10-10 11:05

What is? The verdict hasn't been handed down yet.

      sk.vanderwhatever - 2012-10-10 11:09

      are you day-dreaming?

      deon.louw.7505 - 2012-10-10 12:44

I agree, no sentence can bring back 4 dead children.

  • christina.setloboko - 2012-10-10 11:05

ANOTHER CASE THAT HAVE DRAGGED FOR FAR TOO LONG.

      gift.mushi.9 - 2012-10-10 13:00

Believe you me this was the most difficult case to prove: Capable Homicide to Murder: difficult to convert. Proof that they were drag racing Fail to assess the victims, their lawyers can argue that they are not doctors. I doubt that the judgement will be handed bases on reasonable doubt but on pressure form public as well as teaching lesson on the wrong place.

  • charlesdumbwin.dumbwin - 2012-10-10 11:06

I think Fatboy Buffalo-Wings Malema has just placed a provisional order with Nandos for lunch. If Jub Jub is found guilty, Malema will go share another Nandos meal with his buddy in jail.

  • siyanda.yeni.5 - 2012-10-10 11:07

This report has no substance, with respect! We need something tangible! Basically,it is giving us the history of the matter, which we already know!

      siphom.mnguni - 2012-10-10 11:33

@siyanda.yeni:)what exactly is your point of criticism? The report is informing us that judgment is underway which will lead to verdict and possibly a sentence if the accused are found guilty. So the story has to give a blow by blow of the facts of the case, so there's nothing wrong.

      deon.louw.7505 - 2012-10-10 11:52

Some judgements take 2 days or more, tomorrow it is old news. They will most probably appeal / try to appeal if it goes against them.

      siyanda.yeni.5 - 2012-10-10 12:01

@Siphom Mnguni! All the report is telling us is: The magitrate began reading his judgement and recalled what the court had heard during the trial. My question is what did he say when he began reading and recalled? They should be telling us that!

      siphom.mnguni - 2012-10-10 14:17

@siyanda.yeni:)the judgment goes like this the presiding officer goes through all the evidence given by each and every witness meticulously pointing the corroboration as well as contradiction and then rule as to how much corroboration as opposed to contradiction. Then issue the verdict followed by the conviction, which is followed by a sentence. Then a ruling is made whether a leave to appeal shall be granted or not. It's a long process that demands patience. Hope I have answered to your satisfaction. Sorry I took too long, I'm swamped.

  • darryl.maze.5 - 2012-10-10 11:12

Judgement should be simple, GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY. Life sentence for both with no parole. Just throw away the keys.

  • irma.white.9 - 2012-10-10 11:16
