Judge slammed white people

Johannesburg - Judge Nkola John Motata's alleged remarks on an accident scene were not the first time he lashed out against white people.

His drunken driving trial continued last week in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court.

Years ago, Motata said he did not like the justice system, that according to him, had been forced on the country by white people.

The Pretoria judge last year drove into a Sandton wall in his flashy Jaguar after he was allegedly under the influence. His statements and language on the night of the accident set tongues wagging this week.

His legal team is fighting to prevent photographs and audiotape evidence from being handed in at court.

Motata is also facing charges for resisting arrest.

Motata was allegedly drunk when he drove into the garden wall of Richard Baird's house in Hurlingham on January 6 2007.

Baird took photographs and taped Motata, who swore at him several times.

Sapa reported the tapes included Motata saying, "We will repair the damage, it is not a problem... But Baird should not humiliate me. No boer will undermine me, fuck him, he must not insult me, fuck him, I don't mind."

To police at the scene, Motata allegedly said,"They think they can catch me over something they know. My children... It was the white man's land and even though they can get more land...South Africa is ours, we rule South Africa."

Motata allegedly said in the tape that he would pay for the damage.

Baird deleted some of the photographs and some sound bites are missing. The camera, with which he took the photographs, has been stolen. The cellphone that recorded the sound bites is broken. One of the hard drives used to download the recordings from the camera and cellphone, does not work properly anymore.
