KKNK guest house: Whites only

Cape Town - Many organisations reacted with shocked disbelief on Thursday to a statement by an Outshoorn resident that non-whites were not allowed to stay in her home during the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (KKNK).
The Human Rights Commission, management of the KKNK and the Outshoorn tourism bureau were shocked to learn that coloured and black journalists of the daily Die Burger were not welcome in a residence in the town.
Elsabe Meyer of Hoop Street refused to allow Die Burger to rent her house during the KKNK if their team included "non-whites".
The newspaper immediately cancelled the booking.
Meyer refused to comment on Thursday, but said she had the right to decide who could stay in her house.
