KZN education leader killed in crash

Johannesburg - The KwaZulu-Natal chairperson of the National Association of School Governing Bodies (NASGB) has been killed in an accident in Folweni, Durban, provincial education MEC said on Monday.

Reggy Chiliza was killed in a head-on collision on Saturday.

A woman in the other car was also killed.

MEC Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni conveyed her condolences to Chiliza's family.

"His death is not only a loss to his family, but is a loss to the entire education sector. Mr Chiliza’s passion for education was unparalleled."

NASGB general secretary Matakanye Matakanye paid tribute to Chiliza.

"We feel empty, losing such a leader who was really passionate about education."

He described Chiliza as a fighter for quality education.
