Johannesburg - Two security guards have been arrested in connection with attempted murder in KwaDukuza, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane said the two were arrested on Monday following a shooting incident on 11 January.

"It is alleged that a 52-year-old male and his 46-year-old brother were driving their own vehicle on King Shaka Road in Stanger when they were shot at by two suspects travelling in a Toyota Hilux vehicle."

Zwane said the two men sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital.

"The suspects fled the scene after the shooting. The motive of the attack is unknown at this stage."

The security guards, aged 36 and 38, were expected to appear at KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
