KZN man gets 25 years for rape, kidnapping

Pietermaritzburg - The KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg sentenced a Mooi River man on Wednesday to 25 years in jail for kidnapping, robbery and rape.

Mbekezeli Mazibuko, 23, pleaded guilty and received two separate 15 year sentences for rape and aggravated robbery, and eight years for kidnapping.

Parts of the sentences were made to run concurrently, making an effective sentence of 25 years.

Mazibuko, who had two previous burglary convictions, kidnapped a woman and hijacked her car while she was parking outside her home in December.

Police caught him while he was raping her.
