KZN police nab suspected robbers

Durban - Police in Richmond arrested several suspected robbers in a crime operation on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said police received information about the whereabouts of suspects who were involved in a burglary in the area.

“Police proceeded in the said location where they searched a house. During the search, nine chainsaw machines were recovered and four suspects aged between 31 and 43 were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.”

Zwane said on October 5 a business owner arrived at his work premises and noticed his workshop was broken into.

“Upon checking around he discovered that nine chainsaws were stolen.”

Zwane added that police continued with the operation and arrested three more suspects aged between 20 and 32 in different houses at Magoda area also in Richmond.

“Two suspects were found in possession of five straws of heroin and one mandrax tablet. The other suspect was found in possession of a homemade firearm. The two suspects will be charged for possession of drugs and the other suspect will be charged for possession of [an] illegal firearm.”
