Durban - A taxi operator has been shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Isipingo south of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal authorities said on Thursday.
Transport department spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane said Bhekayena Mnguni was shot on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said three armed men carried out the attack at a taxi rank in Alexandra Road.
Provincial Safety MEC Willies Mchunu condemned the killing.
Mchunu said he was concerned about the on-going tensions within the Folweni Taxi Association.
Five people had been killed in recent months within the association.
"It is unacceptable that people are resorting to violence instead of resolving their disputes amicably."
