KZN woman and killer found dead
Johannesburg - A 32-year-old woman and her 21-year-old alleged killer have been found dead in her house in Ngudwini in KwaZulu-Natal, police said on Thursday.
"Last night [Wednesday]... Ntombenhle Luthuli was at home with her son when a man from the neighbourhood and four strangers stormed into the house," said Captain Thulani Zwane.
"Her son, who noticed some of the assailants armed with guns, fled into nearby bushes and hid."
He later heard a gunshot and when he went back to the house he found his dead mother with a gunshot wound in her chest, clutching a knife, Zwane said.
One of her attackers, Zamokuhle Xulu, from the neighbourhood, was found stabbed to death.
"It is believed that Miss Luthuli fought back during the attack and stabbed Xulu," said Zwane.
A murder docket had been opened at the Sundumbili police station, and police were searching for four men.
Zwane said it appeared the motive for the attack was robbery as Luthuli operated a tuck-shop from her house.
