Bloemfontein - A teenager who has been dubbed the Karate Kid after he fought off eight armed men on his family’s smallholding had come to his father’s rescue before.

Volksblad reported that Mark Reynolds, 15, three years ago knocked over a man with his quad bike after the man tried to stab his father with a knife.

The teen injured himself in the process.

On Saturday, Mark - who has a brown belt in karate - fought off eight men when they attacked him and his father with knives, sticks and a steel pipe.

“I was angry. I don’t like it if someone hurts my dad,” said Mark.

He broke a finger in his left hand and needed to have pins inserted into his hand.

A cut to his brow had to get stitches.

His father, Gavin Reynolds, was in hospital where he was being treated for his diabetes.
