Kids find boy's body in pool

2012-03-23 21:12
Johannesburg - A 6-year-old boy drowned at a lodge's swimming pool in Hillcrest outside Durban on Friday afternoon, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said a group of children went swimming when a child found the body.

"Upon jumping into the pool the child felt something floating near the bottom. The boy then immediately informed adults of what he had felt and a bystander later pulled a boy from the pool."

Visser said the boy was not breathing and had no pulse.

"Bystanders started to perform CPR on the child. Paramedics later arrived at the scene and took over the resuscitation efforts from the bystanders," he said.

Visser said it was unclear how the boy came to drown in the pool.

The boy was declared dead on the scene, said Visser.
