Durban - Two children have been left traumatised after seeing their father shoot and injure his wife and kill a Grade 11 pupil at their Amanzimtoti home.

The violent outburst was apparently prompted by jealousy and a police source said a love triangle was the reason for the shootings, reported the Daily News.

The father, who is a teacher, shot his wife and the other unidentified child in front of his 5-year-old and 8-year-old.

He was arrested and charged with attempted murder and murder.

He was said to have handed himself over to police and admitted to the shootings.

The wife was shot in her thighs and taken to hospital.

Neighbours were looking after the children and counsellors had been sent to attend to them.

It was unclear if the woman was the children’s biological mother.
