Kotzé victim speaks about brutal attack
Johannesburg - The woman brutally attacked by Johan Kotzé and three labourers has said she is only half a woman now and will never be interested in anyone else again.
Ina Bonnette, 42, spoke to Huisgenoot and You about her terrible ordeal at the hands of the man nicknamed the "Modimolle Monster". The attack lasted for almost three hours, during which she was gang-raped, her breasts were slashed and her sexual organs were mutilated, reported the Sunday Tribune.
She suffered internal injuries as well as wounds to her chest and will have to undergo multiple operations. She is also on antiretrovirals.
Despite being in a lot of pain, she attended the funeral of her son, Conrad, 19, in Bela Bela on Friday. She could hardly walk and was apparently shaking at times. Conrad was allegedly killed by Kotzé and she apparently had to listen to him beg for his life before he was shot dead.
As she laid a red rose on his coffin, she said she would always love her son.
She said Kotzé lay down on the bed next to her after the attack and told her she had no idea how much he loved her.
At times during the attack she had hoped for death.
Friends described her as a beautiful and gentle woman, a great mother and caring person. They said they were suspicious of Kotzé from the start, saying he was obsessed with her.
A friend said she thought Bonnette had doubts about the marriage the night before the wedding but had gone through with it nevertheless. After four months, she’d had enough.
The friend said she also thought Kotzé had taken a lot of money from Bonnette.
