Johannesburg - The trial of Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir and five others was postponed for a second day in the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg, sitting in Palm Ridge, on Tuesday.

The matter was postponed because Annelene van den Heever, counsel for Krejcir, was still sick.

Paul Mthabela, who was meant to continue delivering his testimony, promptly left the courtroom, flanked by several men, including a driver, when the adjournment was granted.

Krejcir, Desai Luphondo, warrant officers Samuel Maropeng and George Nthoroane, Jan Lefu Mofokeng, and Siboniso Miya are charged with kidnapping, assault, and attempted murder.

They also face charges of dealing in drugs.

They allegedly kidnapped Bheki Lukhele in a bid to force him to reveal the whereabouts of his brother, Doctor.

Doctor, who worked for a cargo company at the OR Tambo International Airport, had allegedly disappeared with 25kg of tik (Methamphetamine) he was meant to transport to Australia, allegedly for Krejcir.

When Lukhele took to the stand several days ago, he told the court he was forcefully taken from his home in Katlehong in June last year.

He claimed to have been blindfolded, bound, kicked, punched, and had boiling water poured over his head.

All six men have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The trial was expected to continue on Wednesday.
