Lesbian killers to know fate this week

2012-01-30 11:01

Johannesburg - Four men convicted of killing lesbian Zoliswa Nkonyana were expected to appear in court again on Monday, according to a report.

The Times newspaper said Lubabolo Ntlabathi, Sicelo Mase, Luyanda Londzi and Mbulelo Damba were set to appear for pre-sentencing arguments in the Khayelitsha Regional Court in Cape Town.

In November, the four were found guilty of stoning and stabbing Nkonyana to death in February 2006. She was 19-years-old.

Last year the families of the killers pleaded with the court to sentence them to correctional supervision instead of imprisonment, arguing that they were underage when they committed the offence.

The court case is one of the longest-running in the country and has been postponed about 50 times.

      Ruan - 2012-01-30 18:25

How is it possible that someone can give the thumbs down on comments like the one above? These guys are animals!!!

  • Lyndatjie - 2012-01-30 11:21

They stabbed and stoned her... and still the families want to plead for mercies for their poor misunderstood "underaged" innocent children. HELL NO! This was a very brutal murder and there is no way in hell that ANY type of excuse could possible be accepted. LOCK THEM AWAY FOR LIFE!

      Gemma-Leigh Evans - 2012-01-30 11:29

I totally agree. They may have been underage minors, but they were old enough to understand the consequences of their actions and clearly felt they had the right to play God with some poor girls life! If they get away with nothing but a slap on the wrist, it will be as good as condoning such malicious acts of discrimination in South Africa!! No!! They deserve the death penalty...free food and accommodation is too kind.

  • wesley.bischoff - 2012-01-30 11:25

They must stone these c*%nts to death. Sick bastards that destroy a beautiful life just because she loves women. People like them do not deserve anything, let alone a life in prison...

      STYLEbudd - 2012-01-30 11:44

sadly most communities are mis-informed about sexuality. and the world is still homophobic, but i agree with u wesley, stone them or hang them!

      wesley.bischoff - 2012-01-30 12:02

Thank you, for being a lovely open-minded individual :-)

      STYLEbudd - 2012-01-30 12:16

for me its more about education and facts of the truth about sexuality and standing up for our rights

  • Lynda - 2012-01-30 11:30

how can you condone 4 men stoning and stabbing a woman to death..no matter what age they were?

  • Nicholas - 2012-01-30 11:34

Wow such insensitive reporting, a woman died, I don't care about her sexual orientation, she was a fellow human, a person, a daughter. And when you take someone else's life, your age has nothing to do with it, your parents should have done a better job at raising you to know what is right and wrong. So I propose the parents of these murderers to be imprisoned too.

      Ruan - 2012-01-30 18:28

I agree!! and once again you get a couple thumbs down. How can someone not agree with you?

      Nicholas - 2012-01-31 06:47

The beauty of having an opinion is that nobody needs to agree, we can all have one. And if they don't agree that is fine, but if they cannot at least tell me their opinion, maybe I can learn something from it, so what is the point of the thumbs up or down? It has no value, you're just a coward hiding behind an icon, just like they would hide behind their desk, in their marriage, in the role as parent, or as a child to their parents.

  • Jan - 2012-01-30 11:40

F#ck their families... They should have taught their kids to respect human life from the word go.. Tooooo late for forgiveness

      Sunett - 2012-01-30 11:52

Don't agree with you often, Jan, but I do on this one. And why the hell was this case postponed 50 times?? South African justice system at its best...

      David - 2012-01-30 13:00

Ok. So the parents should be held responsable, thats what you are saying. I think every parent would want the best for there child, but what if they use there own brains and do something else. You would do the same in their (parents) shoes.....

  • Lindi Gerber - 2012-01-30 11:57

@ Nicholas: I agreed with everything you had said, until you mentioned their parents. Who would know; just maybe they had done everything in their power to bring their children up in the right way? You CAN'T ever be responsible for another's wrong doings ~ those are life lessons every person should learn from and if you're guilty of living a improper life, then that individual must own up to their own mistakes. Just saying?

      Lindi Gerber - 2012-01-30 12:02

Oops: typo... "living AN improper life"

      Nicholas - 2012-01-30 14:29

You are so right! It is highly likely in this case that the parents had no objections to homosexuality whatsoever, and taught their children that hurting other people is a bad thing, let alone killing them. I hear ya!

      Nicholas - 2012-01-30 14:34

Also after reading the article below; http://articles.latimes.com/2011/may/27/world/la-fg-south-africa-gay-killings-20110528 Maybe the police there were right you know, how could a man be raped? They seemed to have done everything in THEIR power, which was to laugh and humiliate. Just saying...

  • Tebogo - 2012-01-30 12:14

SEND THE BASTARDS TO CHINA !!!!!!!!!!!!

      ivan.coetzee2 - 2012-01-30 13:01

  • Charmaine - 2012-01-30 12:19

Enough is enough for these criminals, strip then bare and cane them in Public, dump them in the dumping sites. there is no time to show Mercy to these Criminals. These comments should reach the office of Zuma

  • ivan.coetzee2 - 2012-01-30 12:20

Hang them, stop waisting time and money!

  • Mfazepepa - 2012-01-30 13:07

THEY REALLY DESERVE TO DIE, THEY HAVE INNOCENT BLOOD IN THEIR HANDS...HANG THOSE DOGS!

  • Mfosi - 2012-01-30 13:29

Bastards should all be hung, RSA you need the death penalty, what kind of sick depraved SOB brutalizes another human being simply because they dont agree with their sexual orientation? In my view such characters have no place in society and your taxes shouldnt be used to feed and house them. Petition your government, demand a referendum in this, u need capital punishment!!!

      Jannah - 2012-01-30 16:49

Mfosi, a person is 'hanged', not 'hung'. Not ridiculing you or being a grammar Nazi, just pointing it out for future reference.

  • louis.langenhoven - 2012-01-30 14:00

a cowboy in a movie once talked about a criminal...he said... That guy needs killing...could be said for this four

  • ingrid.bruynse - 2012-01-30 15:59

This is a wake up call for anyone that the justice system - how can anyone allow a case to be postponed 50 times? The murder was in 2006. Lets hope justice is served. No matter what sexual orientation, our constitution protects us all. And lets hope provides (eventual) justice.

      Jannah - 2012-01-30 16:50

Well, it cliams to protect us ...
