Lesbian murder accused on the run

2010-09-17 09:42
Cape Town - Western Cape police have launched a manhunt for four escaped prisoners who allegedly killed a lesbian teenager, a spokesperson said on Friday.

"We are still searching," said Colonel Billy Jones.

"We will be meeting with the tracing teams later this morning for an update."

A police sergeant was arrested on Thursday for allegedly helping nine prisoners escape from the holding cells at the Khayelitsha Magistrate's Court.

Four of the men who escaped were the accused in the Zoliswa Nkonyana murder case. She was clubbed, kicked and beaten to death in February 2006 at the age of 19, allegedly for being a lesbian.
