Lesotho border post briefly closed due to taxi violence

Bloemfontein - The Maseru Bridge border post between Lesotho and the Free State town of Ladybrand was opened late on Thursday morning after it had been closed to all traffic since Wednesday afternoon.

A police officer in the area, who asked to remain anonymous since he is not allowed to speak to the media, told News24 the border post was closed from the Lesotho side.

“It is open now, but we are monitoring the situation. We never know if it might get closed at short notice.”

He said that taxi violence was cited as the reason for the closure.
