Johannesburg - A man was killed when he was struck by lightning while walking in Sonland Park, near Vereeniging, on Wednesday afternoon, paramedics said.
ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said the 43-year-old man was walking on a tarred road when he was struck.
There was storm in the area about half an hour before.
He was found lying on the ground with burn marks on the side of his head, and on his left ankle, where the bolt left his body.
