Johannesburg - A Limpopo farmer accused of killing a 14-year-old boy appeared in the Groblersdal Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, police said.

The case against Piet Swart, 57 was postponed to July 24, when his trial on charges of murder and attempted murder would start, said Lieutenant Colonel Ronel Otto.

Swart allegedly shot at a group of boys fishing in a dam on his farm. One of the boys, a 14-year-old, was hit in the head. A 17-year-old was shot in the left hand.

He took the wounded teenagers to hospital, where the 14-year-old was declared dead. The other boy was treated and discharged.

Two other children were not harmed.
