Limpopo father held for rape

2012-07-19 19:23

Johannesburg - A Limpopo man has been arrested for raping his teenage daughter, police said on Thursday.

Constable Moses Molepo said the 46-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after a neighbour alerted the police.

He said the 13-year-old child told her neighbour in the Nobody section of Ga-Mothiba that her father "asked her to come sleep with him, as the blankets were not enough in the cold on Sunday".

"He then raped her," said Molepo, adding that doctors confirmed the rape on Monday. The mother was not around when the crime was committed.

Investigations were continuing.

The man would appear in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Friday.
