Limpopo man shoots cop

2013-03-14 16:30
Johannesburg - A man has been arrested in Sterpark in Limpopo after shooting a policeman, he accused of looking like someone who had robbed him, police said on Thursday.

"Out of the blue the complainant said one of the plain-clothed officers looked very similar to the man who just robbed him," police spokesperson Hangwane Mulaudzi said.

"He produced a firearm and shot the 25-year-old officer in the shoulder on Wednesday."

Constable Judy Lekhola was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The 41-year-old man had called police to the scene after he was robbed of R8 000 on Wednesday. Two police officers in a marked van arrived to help.

Lekhola was shot after he arrived on the scene with another plain-clothed officer.

The man was arrested and would face a charge of attempted murder.
