Cape Town - An alleged flasher was released by police on a warning after apparently flashing a group of runners in Linden, Johannesburg, on Saturday morning.

Local Community Police Forum chairperson Lara Bath told News24 she had been driving in Silver Pine Avenue at about 08:45 when she saw a group of joggers suddenly run across the road.

"A man dressed in running gear was standing on the street corner exposing himself to the people as they passed," she said.

"The poor joggers look absolutely disgusted."

Bath spotted a police patrol vehicle driving past and alerted the officers to the illicit deed.

"As the van approached him, he turned around and put his 'whatever' away. As he wasn't caught in the act, the police couldn't charge him."

Numerous reports of a flasher in the Linden precinct have been received in recent weeks, Bath pointed out.

"This guy lives in the area and the police now have all his details," she said.

"I don’t think he will do this again. His run-in with the officers seemed to have given him quite a shock. He was shaking."

Police confirmed that the man had been questioned.
