Johannesburg - A 46-year-old man accused of involvement in a R30m fraud case appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates Court late on Friday, police said.
"He was arrested at about 13:30 at the Cape Town International Airport, after a warrant for his arrest was issued," Inspector November Filander said.
"He released on R250 000 bail with strict bail conditions, one of which was to hand in his passport."
The accused would re-appear on June 10.
This was the fourth arrest made by the Hawks in Operation Litchi, which targeted a group of individuals and business owners who allegedly committed fraud relating to VAT, customs, and banks.
The value relating to the fraud stands at R30 million but the actual loss has a potential value of about R800m, said Western Cape police spokesman Andr Traut.
