Cape Town - Long-time journalist and Tuis/ Home editor Anneke Blaise died on Monday after a battle with cancer, Media24 announced.

Blaise was diagnosed with cancer in December. She died at her home in Durbanville in the Western Cape.

“We’ve lost one of our brightest editors, a colleague who lived her journalistic passion with heart and soul. Even after she became ill she continued to work from home. This is just how she was – irrepressible, joyful and strong.”  Media24 CEO Esmaré Weideman.

Blaise started as a Volksblad reporter and later moved on to Beeld and Die Burger newspapers. She then worked at Sarie and was appointed editor of Tuis/ Home in 2006.

Blaise is survived by her mother, Anna-Marie, her brothers Chris and Albert and her daughter Guénola.
