Loui Fish blames pothole for troubles

Cape Town - "If you ask me I was certainly not under the influence of alcohol. I swerved for a pothole in the road."

That was the response on Wednesday of TV presenter and socialite Loui Fish about the incident on Monday night at about 19:00, when police arrested her in Sandton on a charge of drunk driving.

Fish is a co-presenter of the tabloid programme Tonge Los on kykNET. On Monday she would have started shooting as co-presenter of the reality series Verander My.

However, she has decided not to be part of that programme and rather focus on Tonge Los.

After her arrest she was taken to a district surgeon at the Hillbrow police station and then brought back to Sandton in the back of a police vehicle.

At about 23:00 her bail was set at R1 000.

She will only have to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on September 7 2011.

Fish says she and her husband, former Bafana player Mark Fish, had gone out for lunch that afternoon. She refers to him as her "ex" as they have been separated for two years. Their divorce will be heard next year.

"Mark ordered a bottle of red wine. I had one glass, and it was even mixed with Coke.

"I went home afterwards. I'm a very careful driver. I swerved for a pothole in the road and just after that the police, who I saw driving behind me, pulled me over and arrested me. I suspect they could smell the wine on my breath.

"It wasn't really so humiliating, it was more traumatic to ride in the back of the police van. Actually, the whole experience was very traumatic.

"I was not under the influence of alcohol at all. Really."
