Cape Town - Health facilities and schools in the Western Cape continued to report low levels of strike activity on Thursday, the provincial government said.
Education minister Donald Grant said 6.3%, or 99, of the province's state schools were closed during the day as a result of the public servants' strike.
Just over 15% of educators were absent from work.
The health ministry said 133, or 0.4% of its 28 067 employees, were on strike on Thursday.
Most of them were nurses, kitchen staff and support staff at Tygerberg and Groote Schuur hospitals.
At Stellenbosch Hospital, picketers kept patients from entering the emergency services section for a short period, but the police had "managed" the situation.
