Cape Town - A warrant of arrest has been issued for Briton Anthony Vaughan, a media entrepreneur and publisher of two glossy magazines, after he failed to appear at an insolvency hearing in the Cape Town High Court.

Vaughan, who is married to Generations actress Faye Peters,  has instead fled the country, reported the Sunday Times.

The fugitive, who was the sole director of Media Nova, which published The Property Magazine and Sandton – glossy high-end magazines, is accused of duping creditors, including the Industrial Development Corporation out of millions.

According to a Media Online report by Glenda Nevill in October last year, Vaughan's company was in debt to Paarl Media, CTP Printers and Ultra Litho, all of which had printed his magazines, but had not been paid in full.
Paarl Media CEP Stephan van der Walt was quoted as saying that Vaughan and Media Nova owed the company R4.4 million, describing partial payments that had been made over the past two years as "insignificant".

Vaughan is also allegedly wanted in connection with charges of theft, fraud and extortion in Namibia, the Sunday Times said. The insolvency hearing has been postponed to 4 June.
