Malema 'fan page' shut down

 Cape Town – A Facebook page on which fans of ANC Youth League president Julius Malema posted controversial and racist opinions, has been shut down.
 
Eyewitness News reported that the page was no longer available, but that fans of Malema appeared to have moved to another fan page.

Malema and the ANCYL had distanced themselves from the page, saying Malema does not use Facebook, and does not have an official supporters' page.

The ANCYL said it had on more than one occasion reported Facebook pages which spread hate speech, and which were "illegally created and linked" to its leadership.

The Youth League said it is against all forms of hate speech, and will oppose attempts to threaten people based on race.

A Malema "fan" had caused controversy by calling white people "pigs" and threatening to rape "white whores" and murder white people, as well as President Jacob Zuma.
