Malema postings 'nonsense'

Cape Town - The ANC Youth League will not dignify with any attention the Facebook user who has posted updates on recent farm killings in the country on a purported Julius Malema fan page, it said on Wednesday.

Facebook user Clearence Letlonkane, who refers to the league's president as "the oracle", listed a number of recent killings on the page, saying that the 3 000 farmers killed since 1994 were far from making things "even".

"So kill the boer, kill the farmer," he writes.

Letlonkane continues: "Comrades must unite. The oracle has spoken. The once hunted must now become the hunters. Let them wear dompasses. Restrict them from certain areas. Do u thnk afta putting them through all that crap they will vow 4 reconsilliation?" (sic)

Nothing to do with page

ANCYL spokesperson Floyd Shivambu said neither the league nor Malema had anything to do with the page.

"People have always written nonsense on Facebook. We have complained in the past and it is very sad that people would use the name of Julius Malema for hate speech," said Shivambu.

He said another Malema fan page had been removed from the social networking site after it had been found to contain hate speech.

Asked whether he saw any connection between Malema's singing of a song calling for the killing of "boers" and Letlonkane's posts, he said there was none.

"Those who suppose that there is a connection are stupid," he said adding that the song was not a song for "killing" but that it was a song sung in the ANC at all levels and structures.
