Malema to speak out on Wonderkop ban

2012-09-18 07:21

Johannesburg - Expelled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema was expected to address media in Sandton on Tuesday after he was denied entry to address mineworkers in Marikana.

"The press conference will...speak to the physical prevention of Malema from addressing mineworkers in Marikana despite the plea that he should come address them," suspended ANCYL spokesperson Floyd Shivambu said on Monday in a statement.

"The press conference will make concrete reflections on the political developments in South Africa."

The briefing was expected to start at midday.

On Monday, police stopped Malema at the gates of Wonderkop stadium, where the workers had gathered to be briefed on developments about their wage demands.

After a lengthy discussion, Malema drove off, escorted by about 10 police vans.

A police helicopter circled above, while officers on foot patrol ran to points of entry to stop Malema if he made any turns.

. . . and now I know how bad it is to be African and be led by a Black president. I can feel that "sehlare sa mosotho ke Lekgowa" because there is nothing good that comes out of an African. Africans cannot and will never practice Democracy as in the West and Europe. Freedoms in our constitution mean nothing as long as they do not favor those in power. Remember that nude drawing and the noise made thereupon? Trevor, you need to be afraid for we are dead. You are better because you can run to either Australia or Europe. A Black person is dead for Africa is no more. I am afraid after seeing yesterday, s footage and killings amongst ANC (and IFP/NFP )members.

And I'm sure News24 will turn every sentence he utters into another headline.

      JuditVictor - 2012-09-18 11:04

This Malema is a guy who has learned only one thing and he's banking on it with every desperation in his being: That when people believe they can turn invisible they SHALL listen to his promises speaches. He has learned thoroughly that masses such as those will lend him a keen ear and feed his power hungry persona. But then again, that's all he's learned really.

Obviously you do not know the history of SA.People died for freedom of speech and the right to be any where in this country as long as they do not break the law. I will defend your right to speak even if i do not agree with you.

      steve.ritchie.739 - 2012-09-18 08:07

@Makenawn. Freedom of speech is one thing, blatant incitement to violence is another. Well done cops.

He needs a good ole cup of STFU lol

      hein.huyser - 2012-09-18 08:19

Freedom of speech is a fundamental right, and for preventing M to do that the cops were wrong. If he incited people to violance, then lock him up for that, but to prevent him to speak the cops erred. Tomorrow it will be you who is prevented to speak, curbing your constitutional rights. Think!!!!

      Willie - 2012-09-18 09:08

@ steve.ritchie.739 why didn't they arrest him for "blatant incitement" .According to you anyone who is breaking the law should be escorted not arrested, think about it Steve.

      joahan.smal - 2012-09-18 08:08

Caiphus, Julius might be a good person, but I sincerely have my doubts about his intentions. He is not even original with his Che Guevara 'wannabe' attitude. If he studied Guevara he would have noticed several differences. Guevara was an extremely intelligent person; in fact he was a qualified doctor. Guevara had no love for money. The same cannot be said about Malema. He can rather be compared to the despotic leaders of which Africa has had its fair share. His arrogance and "I know better" attitude speak loudly of a young boy who does not understand the intricacies of a nation and a country. He is just seeing a fat heap of money and power in his future and he is using uninformed masses to reach his goals. Once he has what he wanted, he will make Amin, Mugabe and Taylor look like saints. If you cannot see that, I suggest that you urgently start studying the history of African leaders and what they have done to their countries and their people.

      lorain.maseko - 2012-09-18 08:14

Caiphus are you serious? A good person who capitalizes on the death of others to push his own personal agendas? Do you honestly believe that malema cares about anyone but himself? His fight to stay within the ANC has nothing to do with fighting for the poor it has everything to do with him staying in a role of power so he can continue building himself 16 million rand mansions. I think you are the one who just displayed your follishness on a public forum.

I've always tolerated the people who said 'the media is making money off JM by feeding us provocative stories about him', thinking 'well, if it's news it's news'. I must admit, I see it differently now. He's a nobody, with no political clout, no influence in the wining sector... Yet he gets all this attention. No wonder the miners are so sold on him- he's a rockstar, not a political figure.

      John - 2012-09-18 08:10

Much as I do not like Malema. If he has no influence why is he rushed off by POLICY ENFORCERS? If he is just hot air then what he says will just cool to ambient temperature and blow away in the wind! It clearly does NOT!

Most of the comments here are so subjective, isulting in nature and lack valid facts and that is why it is not worthwhile spending your precious time trying to engage people who have been brainwashed. They must first get some psychotheraphy to fix their minds.

      William u are spot on

      johan.wilsnach - 2012-09-18 09:48

Talking about brainwashed I will include another word ignorant. You do not fully understand the English language, for if you did you would say and do most things differently.THE one WORD you have missed is FREEDOM.This word you have no understanding of bar the way people are doing things in this country right now. FREEDOM does not allow you to do as you want. Every country the world over are governed by laws. The moment this happens you are not as free as you think or believe you are. Let me tell this once only. There is only one FREEDOM and that is THE FREEDOM OF THE SOUL. That is all if you don't understand this ????????? Things are upside down in this country for this very reason. Get understanding and wisdom about the word FREEDOM and you will have the right mindset. Fraud, crime and all the wrong things here stems from the misunderstood word called FREEDOM.
