ANCYL speaks out on Malema

2013-06-13 13:14

The ANC youth league's national task team co-ordinator, Magasela Mzobe, talks about Julius Malema's new political party. Watch.WATCH

Johannesburg - Julius Malema's former allies do not want to be associated with his new political formation, the Sowetan newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Ayanda Matiti, chairperson of the ANC Youth League in the Eastern Cape, told the Sowetan that Malema's move amounted to political prostitution.

"Economic freedom is not a progeny or an entitlement to any other person, but a resolution of a congress which Malema presided over when he was still president [of the ANCYL]," Matiti was quoted by the Sowetan.

He said extracting the resolution and defining it outside the framework of the ANCYL was "tantamount to prostitution".

Malema's best friend from his home province of Limpopo, Jossey Buthane, could not directly say whether he supported the expelled ANCYL leader in his intention to form a political party, the Sowetan reported.

"Julius Malema is my friend-cum-brother, and I am a member of the ANC," Buthane told the newspaper.
