Man accused of 33 rapes stays in jail
Johannesburg - The case of a man accused of raping 33 girls between the ages of 10 and 14 was postponed in the Alberton Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, Gauteng police said.
Lieutenant Col Lungelo Dlamini said the 40-year-old man would be back in court on March 6 after further police investigation.
He would remain in custody.
The man, who could not be identified until he had pleaded, also faced 33 counts of attempted murder. He was arrested in Eden Park at the end of January after one of the girls followed him to his home and alerted the police.
The girls, from the East Rand areas of Katlehong, Thokoza, and Vosloorus, were apparently lured to an open veld and raped between 2007 and 2011.
