East London - A man accused of killing his 15-year-old
daughter appeared in the Butterworth Magistrate's court on Friday to face a
charge of murder, Eastern Cape police said.
Phumelele Silinga, 39, appeared briefly in court and had
his case remanded to 15 January. He was not asked to plead, said police
spokesperson Jackson Manatha
Silinga is accused of murdering his 15-year-old daughter
Ziyanda last year.
Silinga allegedly had an argument with his daughter on 31
December in R6 Location Magomanzi, outside Butterworth.
"It is alleged that he stabbed the deceased in her
upper body and she died instantly," Manatha said.
Silinga fled the scene and was later arrested due to a
tip-off from the local community.
