Pretoria - A man has been arrested in connection with the
kidnapping and killing of a policeman in Pretoria, Gauteng police said on
Saturday.
The 57-year-old man was arrested on Friday night and his car
was impounded, said Lieutenant Lungelo Dlamini.
Major Abram Tselana, 45, was last seen when he went to
withdraw money at a bank in central Pretoria on 31 December.
His body was found four days later with an open wound to his
head near Paul Kruger Street in Pretoria.
Dlamini said police had established that after withdrawing
R23 000 from the bank, Tselana was allegedly approached by a woman accompanied
by two men.
"He later accompanied them and boarded a vehicle, a red
VW Jetta."
When the body was found, the money was missing.
Dlamini said the arrested man was the owner of a car,
believed to be the one Tselana had got into.
"It is suspected that he was part of the suspects...
that were involved in the kidnapping of the deceased outside a Pretoria
bank."
Police are still searching for three others.
The man would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on
Monday facing charges of kidnapping and murder.
