Man arrested for arson, murder

Johannesburg - Limpopo police arrested a 24-year-old man on Tuesday morning for allegedly starting a fire in which seven women were killed, said police.

Superintendent Ailwei Mushavhanamadi said the man was arrested around 07:30 after a tip-off from members of the public.

The man allegedly set fire to the hut in Mashau-Mathothwe village outside Makhado after an argument with his girlfriend's mother. His girlfriend was not in the hut at the time of the incident.

Mushavhanamadi said the man would appear in the Thohoyandou magistrate's Court soon.
